How do you know where to start with improving your website for search engines?

If you want to know how to start improving your website’s positioning, we (and all the other wise SEO people) start with an audit.

What is an SEO audit?

An SEO audit is a process to look at different parts of your website that affect its performance in search engines.

It looks at the organic, real-time effectiveness of your website to see what is working well and what isn’t.

Why is an SEO audit important?

It’s important because the audit reveals any issues with your website’s SEO so that you can fix them and get into the search ranking you deserve.*

*Obviously we think you deserve to be at the top!

How does an SEO audit work? What are you auditing?

There are three parts to an SEO audit… the on-page bit, the off-page bit and the technical bit.

Let’s break these down and do some explaining:

1. On-page SEO

This part of the audit is looking at the elements of your website that you can control. The parts that can be seen and easily changed. It’s mostly about your visible content: your words, your keywords, your images, your internal links.

2. Off-page seo

This part of the SEO audit looks at the SEO elements that you don’t see. Or, can’t change as easily but you can still do something about. For example: ‘backlinks’ - the links in your site that link from other people’s websites to your own.

3. Technical SEO

As you can guess, this is the more complicated part of an SEO audit. The technical SEO audit looks at things like how quickly do your website pages load when people click on them. Or, does your website work well on mobiles? It’s the behind the scenes stuff. And, honestly - there’s a lot of it to audit.

It can be overwhelming when you begin to think of the potentially huge task of an SEO audit.

But, try and switch the overwhelm into a positive thing - a long list means that there’s always something to improve. There’s always an idea to help you reach higher rankings in the search engines!

Your website won’t ever appear high in search results if your pages aren’t readable by Google. An SEO audit helps you figure out what you need to improve.

Think of an SEO audit as a spring clean so that everyone can live happier lives…

It gets rid of the mess that is slowing your site down.

One of the services we offer is an in-depth SEO audit.

  1. We’ll take an in-depth look at your website, front-end to back-end

  2. Create a fully tailored 30+ page report.

  3. Then we’ll guide you through what we find: the good, the bad and the ugly (sorry to be rude!)

  4. Next, we highlight our top ten recommendations to address in order of priority - to help your website rank up top.

We will outline actions, what resources are needed to deliver the actions and when we are going to deliver them. And the best bit? We prioritise the actions, but you choose how many of them you’d like us to work on.

Book your audit now, or chat to us to find out more about what the process is.
